Berv was an accomplished educator whose students (including his daughter, Andrea) all remember "Uncle Al, your pal," as an affable educator who taught not only economics and statistics, but life lessons as well. His passion for sharing knowledge delighted him everyday. He was often heard exclaiming, "And for this, they pay me!" He was an outgoing individual who loved music. All his children learned to harmonize while driving to the family farm. He was an active and dedicated member of the Lions, Barbershop Chorus, and men's quartet. He was a loyal Teton fan who was inducted into the Teton Boosters Hall of Fame.
